This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of Meeno Technologies Inc. (“Meeno” “we”, “us”, or “our”) and how we handle personal information that we collect through our mobile applications, our website located at https://meeno.com (the “Site”) and through any other applications, websites or services that we own or control and that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Service”). The Service consists of an AI-enabled relationship mentor, designed to help users foster real-life connections by offering advice and answers to relationship questions through the use of AI technology.

Meeno is the controller of your personal information under this Privacy Policy - this simply means we are responsible for your personal information.

We care about the protection and confidentiality of your personal information. We process  your personal information only as described in this Privacy Policy,  including to allow you to have individualized and safe conversations and interactions with your AI relationship mentor and to allow your AI relationship mentor to learn from your interactions to improve its conversational abilities. 

Personal Information We Collect

Information you provide to us:

  • Contact information, such as your first, last name, email, and any other contact information you choose to provide to us.

  • Account and profile information. We ask you to provide your birth date, pronouns, relationship status, advice you would like to receive and goals when you register for the Service. You can also opt-in to provide information about your gender.

  • Content and metadata of any conversations you have with your AI relationship mentor when using the Service, including messages you send and the replies you receive. To keep your conversations private, we remove your name and email from these messages and use a special code instead. [This means we can’t tell who you are from your conversations, unless you provide additional identifiable information]. 

  • Communications that we exchange with you, including when you respond to our surveys or contact us with questions, feedback or otherwise.

  • Interests and preferences. You may select conversation preferences, such as topics you would like to discuss, and communication preferences, such as the times of day you like to use the Service. We also learn about your interests and your preferences over time through your use of the Service to personalize your conversations and the features of the Service.

  • Sensitive data. In your use of the Service, you may choose to provide information that may be sensitive under applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to, your sexual orientation, political views, religious views,  racial or ethnic origin, philosophical beliefs. 

  • Marketing information, such as your preferences for receiving marketing communications and details about your engagement with them.

  • Surveys and Reviews information, such as name, contact information, reviews and survey responses when you complete any of our surveys or write a review on the Service.

Information you provide to us:

  • Social media information: We may maintain pages on social media platforms, such as Facebook, X, and LinkedIn. When you visit or interact with our pages on those platforms, you or the platforms may provide us with personal information.

Automatic data collection. We and our service providers may automatically log and combine information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with the Service, online resources, and our communications, such as:

  • Device data such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system type and version, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, device type (e.g., phone, tablet), IP address, unique identifiers (including identifiers used for advertising purposes), language settings and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area.

  • Activity data such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, duration of access, and whether you have opened or otherwise engage with our communications.

How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information for the following purposes or as otherwise described at the time of collection:

Provide our Service. We use personal information to operate, maintain, and provide you with our Service. In particular, we will use personal information to perform our contractual obligations under our Terms of Service.

Communicate with you about Meeno. To perform our contractual obligations, or when it is in our legitimate business interests, we use personal information to respond to your requests, provide customer support, communicate with you about our Service, including by sending announcements, surveys, reminders, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages.

Improve, monitor, personalize, and protect our Service. It is in our legitimate business interests to improve and keep our Service safe for our users, which includes:

  • Ensuring you’re over 18 years old to use the Service.

  • Understanding your needs and interests, and personalizing your experience with the Service and our communications.

  • Improving and adding features to our services.

  • Troubleshooting, testing and research, and keeping the Service secure.

  • Investigating and protecting against fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized or illegal activity. 

  • To ensure our training models are based on data that is representative of the population and to mitigate bias in the AI.

Research and development. We may use personal information for research and development purposes, in our legitimate business interests,  including to analyze trends, usage, activities and statistics, and to improve the Service and our business. As part of these activities, we may create or use aggregated, de-identified or other anonymized data from personal information we collect. 

Surveys and Reviews. It is in our legitimate business interest to conduct surveys and collect feedback from reviews you provide to us. Where we intend to publish your survey responses or reviews with information that identifies you we will ask you for your consent to be able to process this information.

Direct Marketing. We may send you direct marketing communications as permitted by law, including by email. Except where consent is required, we undertake such direct marketing on the basis of our legitimate business interests. You may opt out of our marketing communications as described in the Privacy Rights and Choices below.

Supplier/Partner relationships. Where you are a supplier/partner or a representative of a supplier/partner, it is in our legitimate business interests to use your personal information to contact you and to manage our relationship with you and/or your company. If we have entered into a contract with you/your company, we will use your personal information as required for us to perform our contractual obligations under the relevant contract.

Affiliates. We may share your personal information with our affiliates.

Service providers. We may rely on third-party service providers in furtherance of the purposes described above. In these cases, personal information may be accessed by these third-parties and processed or stored on our behalf. These service providers can include hosting services, cloud computing and storage services, maintenance services, security services, and user support services. To enable us to provide you with relevant responses, we will also share some of your information with AI technology providers that power our Service. For example, we will disclose conversations and chat history to AI technology providers to generate intelligent and personalized responses in conversations with users. We require our AI service providers to use your information only for the purpose of generating responses to your chats, and we do not allow those providers to train their AI models using your data.

Professional advisors. We may share information with professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services that they render to us.

Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate for the compliance and protection purposes described above.

Business transferees. Acquirers and other relevant participants in business transactions (or negotiations for such transactions) involving a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale or other disposition of all or any portion of the business or assets of, or equity interests in, Meeno (including, in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceedings).

Your instruction or permission. A relevant third party, where you give us permission to do so in the course of your relationship with us from time to time.

Retention of Personal Information

Where required under applicable laws, we retain personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected and processed, in accordance with our retention policies, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory obligations or until you withdraw your consent (where applicable). To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of personal information, the purposes for which we use personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, any permissions you give us with regards to your personal information, and the applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

If you choose to delete your App account, we will retain limited personal information about you in case you wish to rejoin in the future.

International Data Transfers

Meeno is located in and processes personal information in the United States. We also have external partners and service providers based in the United States and other countries outside the UK and European Economic Area (EEA), which means your personal information may be processed in countries with data protection laws less stringent than or otherwise different from the laws in effect in your country.

Where there are cross border transfers of your personal information, unless we can rely on a derogation provided under data protection law, we will ensure that relevant safeguards are in place to afford adequate protection for your personal information, and we will comply with applicable data protection laws. For example, in relation to European personal information, we rely on a European Union (“EU”) Commission or United Kingdom (“UK”) government adequacy decision or on contractual protections for the transfer of personal information. Delete your account. You may request that we delete your account by contacting us as provided in the “How to Contact Us” section below, or by deleting your account within the Service’s settings. 

Opt-out of marketing communications. You may opt out of marketing-related emails by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions in the emails you receive from us. You may also opt out of receiving marketing communications from us by contacting us as provided in the “How to Contact Us” section below. You may continue to receive Service-related and other non-marketing communications.

Personal information requests. Where applicable, you may have the following data subject rights in relation to your personal information:

  • Information about how we have collected and used personal information. We have made this information available to you by including it in this Privacy Policy.

  • Access to a copy of the personal information that we have collected about you. Where applicable, you can also ask us for portability of this personal information (i.e. to provide personal information in a portable, machine-readable, readily usable format to you or another third party you designate).

Our Service may contain links to websites and other online services operated by third parties. In addition, our content may be integrated into web pages or other online services that are not associated with us.
