New York – Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share our biggest product release to date, plus some notes on what makes Meeno unique vis-à-vis generic search or large language models.
WHAT’S NEW
- My favorite feature ever - Visual Journal: We use AI to create a visual map of your relationships, and track their development over time.
- Access Meeno as a web app on any device at meeno.com: This means anyone in the world can now access Meeno, whether you’re using Android, iOS or a desktop computer.
- Meeno for iOS in the US, Australia and across Europe: Download Meeno from the App Store for free. Please update the app if you previously tried it.
HUMAN CONNECTION BY DESIGN
Meeno is the world’s first language-based AI system specifically designed to improve human relationships.
We believe that if your goal is truly helping people with their social, physical and mental health, responsible AI cannot be informed by generic data.
Meeno been designed from the ground up around our specific use case: human connection! This is why Meeno has been trained on data from real people—during our beta phase, that’s been 90K people and counting—anonymously discussing real-life situations.
The product we have available today is underpinned by this vertical data set. Meeno 1.0 was essentially a survey-meets-LLM-powered chatbot (we had to start somewhere). It has been designed and annotated with help from relationship experts to ensure it meets ethical standards and practical guidance, whilst doubling down on data privacy, custom guardrails, empathy and more.
We have also made a start to augmenting our system with proprietary research. Filling in blanks that large language models and search provide generic guidance on. Things like, how many couples argue about who does the dishes.
Turns out, knowing you’re not alone in feeling a certain way is really helpful.
HOW IT’S GOING
We quietly put Meeno for web live over the summer and it’s been really fun to see how it’s working for people that find it through search.
True to form, Ireland is the chattiest Meeno community, based on average message count. Followed by Italy (ciao!). New York is our #1 city in terms of usage (hooray, as it’s my new home!). Meeno continues to be popular with men, who appreciate the anonymity it offers. Both men and women turn to Meeno for guidance on dating and relationships, while women also seek advice on finding friends.
Whilst a big part of building Meeno has been about creating our vertical data set, we’ve also been testing out tons of system features. These are most popular:
- Visual Journal offers AI-powered insights about my social life. It scores how important people and themes are based on how often I discuss them.
- Voice lets me share a quick braindump on whatever is happening with my relationships in order to populate my visual journal. Big fan of this one.
- Predictive Prompting offers MadLibs-style conversation starters that help me articulate my needs for specific use cases, such as making an important decision or preparing a conversation.
- Insights help you understand whether you’re normal or outside the norm on things like processing a breakup, monogamy or sex drive.
- Personalized advice thanks to Meeno's Memory of my relationships over time. The Meeno system has gotten to know my needs and quirks, like how much alone time I need and how I prefer IRL time or voice calls for keeping in touch. It uses this to provide practical guidance tailored to MEE.
LET MEE NO
Getting to this point has been really hard. When it comes to relationships there is almost never a clear “right” or “wrong” answer, and it took a lot of iterations to build a diamond-grade data set whilst ensuring trust and privacy for every single Meeno member.
From the start we have said we are building this WITH you, so I’ve created an Instagram where I’ll start to share more stories about what we are building, why, and get your input.
